What is a Community Transformation Project?

It is a project where the community is revitalized to create a beautiful and urban environment, where members of the community can foster common interests and visions that generate safe and welcoming environments. Neighbourhood transformation creates communication, relationships and opportunities for artistic expression and economic enterprise that were not present before the effort was initiated.

Transformation involves more then removing graffiti tagging. It also includes:
  1. Removal or priming over of graffiti vandalism, tagging, and gang symbols
  2. Putting up beautiful artistic murals in its place to deter vandalism and create an inviting space
  3. Murals may consist of urban spray paint art, brush and easel, and occasionally stencils
  4. Removing garbage and cleaning the alleys and streets surrounding the project
  5. Planting enviromentally sustaining measures such as trees, shrubs, and other greenery
  6. Cleaning windows and fencing of neighbouring properties
  7. Shifting attitudes. Graffiti is an artform, and when applied appropriatly, adds to our cultural uthenticity.
  8. Building relationships with businesses, community partners, and youth
CAVE offers to be the central clearing house for community revitalization projects, education and public awareness facilitation, resource development and co-ordination of transformation projects.
